What I did in August

• I moved back to New York. I have been busy bouncing between hotels and touring potential homes.
• I visited Copenhagen for an event at noma. Highlights of the trip included visiting a warehouse of vintage furniture and lamps, many good cups of coffee, and conversations about koji.
• Published 12 photos to Tidbits - mostly of my trip to Denmark. Take a look.

• Articles: Craig Mod comparing Tokyo's order with New York's chaos. Erich Grunewald on why you should almost never use AI to write anything substantive. New York and the Power of the Network. The FAA is recruiting video gamers to train as air traffic controllers. Daniel Cook's Mixing Games and Applications teaches software design. I have been reading many great articles on Works in Progress - such as Alberta's war on rats.
• Podcasts: Karl Ove Knausgård on Conversations with Tyler: “The act of writing is like for me a place I can go to and where I am protected somehow.”
• Tools: OpenRouter's rankings show which AI models process the most tokens through its service over time. Industry Standard Tools is a directory of products that became defaults in their trades from CW&T.
• Ideas: The Baumol effect: wages can rise in work with little productivity growth because those employers compete for workers with more productive industries, pushing up relative costs.

Plans for September

• I am wandering until I move into my new NYC home. Currently in Boulder.
